Our Story
Why we created Featherly
Featherly grew out of real experience in support work.
Years ago I worked as a support worker with a number of different people. Like many workers, I quickly realised that much of the job involves figuring things out as you go.
Some shifts were easy and enjoyable. Others were awkward, uncomfortable or hard, with challenging situations. Sometimes you're out in the community and unsure what to do, or trying to handle a situation you've never come across before.
A lot of support work is learning as you go.
You learn from the person you're supporting and from situations you weren't expecting.
Both founders of Featherly have spent years working in the disability sector, and disability has been part of our lives in different ways.
This is why we wanted to create Featherly, a space just for support workers.
